The following requirements or recommendations apply to all models that you intend to add through the Catalog Manager. After you create the part or assembly:

• Make sure the part or assembly rebuilds correctly.

• Follow these naming conventions for components and assemblies.

• Use alpha-numeric characters for the names of the components or assemblies.

• Avoid the special characters in top-level assembly names such as:

• ~ tilde

• <> less than or greater than

• * asterisk

• $ dollar sign

• Save the part or assembly into a new file to reduce the file size before creating a zip file to add to the Catalog.

Use the following guidelines for models or assemblies that include configurations. After you create the part or assembly:

• Use the part number as the configuration name.

• Specify the configuration name in the first column of the design table.

• Use the second column to specify groups or part families, if applicable.

Use the following guidelines for models and assemblies with multiple, dynamically-generated configurations. Dynamically-generated configurations enable customers to specify any configuration within a preset range, without requiring you to specify all combinations in the design table. The system generates and displays the specified configuration online. After you create the part or assembly:

• Create a design table that includes columns used as the controlling parameters for the model (for example columns for length and width).

• Do not use "quotation marks" for parameter names in design tables.

  NOTE: If you rename the assembly and all its references, the design table does not automatically update.

• Include a configuration named "Default" in the design table that includes values for the controlling parameters. This is used as the template to generate new configurations.

• Create a standard set of configurations that spans the entire range of the controlling parameters. For example, if the model ranges in length from 50mm to 200mm, create separate configurations for these two sizes (in addition to the "Default" configuration).

• Save the model using the "Default" configuration as the active configuration.

• Ensure that column headings refer to actual parameters. Column headings should not include non-existing parameters, or names that have changed.

• Test components required for an assembly by activating some or all configurations.

Make sure that for drawing views the Use model's "in use" or last saved configuration option is active. This option is in the Drawing View Properties dialog box, under Configuration information.

• Model files along with the accompanying design table must be zipped into a single file.

• Zipped file must use the same name as used by the model.
